Can you imagine Christmas after losing your home?
Charlotte and her husband, Ed, had lost hope. They are both amputees from separate accidents earlier in their lives, and they both had worked hard to earn enough money to buy a home and they were proud that they had never asked for help.
But this past June, after a huge rainfall caused some unexpected house repairs, Charlotte felt like their family was heading down a financial spiral and had nowhere to turn for help. They fell behind in their mortgage payments and were on the verge of foreclosure. Ed wrote an emotional three-page letter, telling the story of his family and asking for help, and Charlotte taped that letter to the doors of churches across her area. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was the first to call them and offer a hand.
Because of your help and generous heart, SVdP worked with Beyond Housing to stop the foreclosure process and negotiate a new loan agreement. Charlotte and Ed are keeping up with their payments and will be spending Christmas where they want to be, where they should be, in their own home.
