Prescription Drug Assistance
Even since the adoption of the Affordable Care Act, the Society has seen an increased demand for assistance with prescription drug costs among people in need. These people may not be able to stay healthy enough to work, go to school or care for their families, which can trap them in a cycle of poverty. The Society partners with LDI Integrated Pharmacy Services to provide pharmaceuticals at no cost. Volunteers provide vouchers to people in need, who give the vouchers to their physicians to fill out. The pharmaceutical company processes vouchers, and the client receives their medications at no charge. When those in need have access to the medicines they need, they can stay healthy enough to support their families.
The Society receives referrals of fire victims through the American Red Cross. We assist with furniture, clothing, household items, food, utilities and other financial assistance. This program is made possible through the generosity of one of our conferences. Around 100 households are helped annually.
Even the poorest among us is a person infinitely loved by God. Since its founding in 1833, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has made the burial of those who die alone or without resources part of the Vincentian mission. Referrals are made by Vincentians and area hospitals.
If a needy person requires medicine or other help during prayer time, do whatever has to be done with peace of mind. Offer the deed to God as your prayer.
